Built in 1935 and retaining much of its original Italian Art Deco atmosphere thanks to sensitive renovation, the central Bettoja Hotel Atlantico is located atop the Esquilino, the highest of Rome's seven hills, and just 100 meters from Termini Station. Dark wood veneers, hardwood floors and simple soft furnishings in typically 1930s greens and pinks feature in the 69 air conditioned rooms, all of which are equipped with Internet connections, direct-dial telephones, minibars and safes. <br> Guests can work online from their own laptops in the lobby lounge area thanks to wireless Internet access, use the computer in the lobby business corner, connected to the web 24 hours a day or simply browse the complimentary newspapers. On site eating and drinking requires a stroll from the lobby through the adjoining corridor to Hotel Mediterraneo; featuring polished wood décor and Italian Art Deco mosaics, the Restaurant 21 offers traditional Italian cuisine and a selection of fine wines are served at lunch and dinner. The health conscious will appreciate access to the fitness centre at an affiliated hotel two blocks away and guests arriving by car can take advantage of secure pay parking in the immediate vicinity. The hotel's city centre location means that a host of Rome's major attractions are easily reached on foot. Within 300 metres visitors will find the National Museum and the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica, while the monumental Coliseum, the Forum and the Trevi Fountain are all about a kilometre away. Rome Fiumicino airport is 35 kilometres and about a 45 minute journey from the hotel. A local train service runs between the airport terminal and Termini station in central Rome. The hotel is about a 100-metre walk from the station's main exit along Via Cavour. A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs around 50 EUR. Expect a taxi from Termini to the hotel to cost in the region of 3 EUR, with 1 EUR charge for each piece of luggage. The hotel can arrange private transfers if contacted in advance.
